Abandoned Indonesian Church is a Chicken-Shaped Carcosa

In Magelang, Central Java, there’s an old church shaped like a giant chicken. It was reportedly constructed by a builder named Daniel Alamsjah who received a message from God. The prayer house was supposed to be a dove. Now it’s a decaying chicken Carcosa.

The now abandoned chicken still attracts photographers and visitors from all over the world. Some want to explore its interior, some just want a story to tell and a photo. The locals say that young couples use it for “private time.”

But to be honest, it looks like a place where you could mainline the secret truth of the universe.

Alamsjah shut down the giant chicken 15 years ago as its upkeep — the chicken was used as both a prayer house and a rehabilitation center — became too expensive. Now it’s more like someone’s dream of a prayer house.

Alright, alright.
