Here’s the trailer for David O. Russell’s next movie, the star-packed ’70s scam story American Hustle, with a puffy Christian Bale explaining the art of the con to Bradley Cooper, plus Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner… yeah, a pretty strong bunch, and the trailer doesn’t even show Robert De Niro, Jack Huston, Michael Pena, or Louis C.K., all of whom are in it, too. (And Colleen Camp, who’s been in everything.) It’s based loosely on the ABSCAM sting on Congress, and the trailer doesn’t really tell the story — it’s more of a teaser, with lots of quick edits and Led Zeppelin on the soundtrack (and some butt bongo!) — but it looks authentic (yes, people really did have hair that bad and there WAS a lot of polyester) and, based on the track record here (and that Silver Linings Playbook was among last year’s favorites among many of us here at Nerdist), I’m in.
