A Super Star Destroyer is Bigger than You Probably Think

Over on Reddit, a user named movielover278 posted a picture he created that shows a size comparison between a Super Star Destroyer from the Star Wars franchise and Manhattan, New York. They are almost the same size — the ship is gigantic. This could be why Super Star Destroyers are sometimes classified as space stations instead of starships in various Star Wars writings.

So to head from one end of the ship to the other would be roughly equivalent to walking from The George Washington Bridge all the way down to The Brooklyn Bridge. Star Wars reference material has referred to the Executor class Super Star Destroyer, which I assume is the model being used here, as being 19,000 meters long, or roughly 12 miles. It also looks to be about as wide as Manhattan is at its widest point, which is around 2 miles. Of course, none of these are true measurements because this ship isn’t real, but it can be fun to contemplate.

How does someone travel around a Super Star Destroyer if it is that big?

Being the size of a city, we can assume that the craft is built to house everyone on it for extended periods of time, maybe their entire lives, and that travel from different sections and areas would have to be like that in a city — small vehicles, rapid transit systems, all kinds of different ways to get about. One redditor brought up the idea of zero-gravity tunnels that launch you from one spot to another (science optional). With how little is available on the subject, your guess it as good as mine, but I WANT TO KNOW.
