A SADAKO VS. KAYAKO Horror Showdown on the Baseball Field in Japan

If you thought horror face-offs were a thing of the past, think again! On the heels of Freddy vs Jason and Alien vs Predator, Sadako (Ringu) vs Kayako (Ju-On), is the new Japanese horror showdown to hit the big screen, and will pit one creepy ghost against another. The studio has launched an interesting promotional campaign for the movie, including a baseball square-off. Since baseball is always popular in Japan, why not see which of the dead ladies is better at sports?

The AV Club reports that the demon spirits attended the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters vs the Yakult Swallows baseball game in Sapporo, Japan. There, they participated in the ceremonial pitch to kick off this highly anticipated game.

Surprisingly, both ghostly figures managed to impress the audience with their sportsmanship, despite their limitations. Sadako threw the first pitch, which hit speeds at close to 60 MPH, dressed in her long white gown with long dark hair covering her entire face. Kayako hit the fastball out to left field with fervor, but if you’ve seen the Ju-On films (known as The Grudge in America) you should know Kayako is not known for running. This is when her ghoulish young son, Toshio (sporting a cute “I love Kayako” T-shirt) stepped in for his mother and took off sprinting to second base. To see their entire gameplay, be sure to watch the full video above.

While no one was hurt or killed in the midst of this particular game, be prepared for things to get gruesome on June 18 with the Japanese release of  Sadako vs. Kayako, directed by Kōji Shiraishi.
