A Primer On 8-Bit Art

Last week, PBS’ “Off Book” series of online reports did a piece on 8-bit art. It looks at the evolution of the form from video games to its present state. Anamanaguchi, the band responsible for the Nerdist Podcast theme, is in there, as is video game researcher Jesper Juul, chiptune artists Dr. Octoroc and Minusbaby, and painter Anthony Sneed. The segment has the artists speaking for themselves, which beats a narrator explaining everything to you. If you’re interested in 8-bit art and want a quick primer, this’ll work nicely.
