A Pop-up Ice Cream Museum to Beat the August Heat

Fellow ice cream enthusiasts, our time has come. This summer,A Pop-up Ice Cream Museum to Beat the August Heat all of our frozen dreams will come true as the Museum of Ice Cream opens up during the month of August in the Meatpacking District of New York City. Eater lets us in on all the icy details on how this pop-up will allow us to embrace all things ice cream during the hottest of summer months.

If you’re imagining Wonka’s factory but completely made up of frozen treats, you’re not far off. The museum will feature edible balloons, a massive ice cream sundae, a chocolate room, and oh yeah, a swimmable pool of rainbow sprinkles. Before you grab your ice cream bathing suit and dive in, the caveat is the sprinkles aren’t actually real, just made to look and feel like the real thing. So don’t get carried away and start noshing your way through the deep end.

As if those fabulous edible activities weren’t enough, there will also be ice cream art installations as well as an ice cream playground complete with an ice cream sandwich swing and ice cream scooper seesaw. Beyond this frozen wonderland, Tinder is sponsoring an sweet treat exhibit called Tinder Land. You heard right: the dating app is creating an interactive space for guests to discover their true flavor match using a custom app. I will always swipe right for you, mocha almond fudge. Always.

You can’t go to an ice cream museum without consuming a creamy, dreamy snack. Along with your museum admission you also get a Scoop of the Week; specialty ice cream creations by some of New York’s finest ice cream purveyors like Black Tap, famous for their insane Instagram-worthy shakes); and OddFellows Ice Cream Co., known for their artisanal batch flavors.

Now the real question is, in making my travel plans should I go sans hotel and just beg the museum to let me stay there? I’m sure I can hide myself among the sprinkles in the ice cream pool.

The Museum of Ice Cream will be open from July 29 to August 31.
