A JOHN WICK Sequel Is Officially in the Works

Just when you think the human race has run its course and that all hope is lost, you find out that there is going to be a sequel to John Wick and suddenly the sun is shinning and there’s a sense that we’re gonna make it after all. John Wick 2, you guys! Not to over-sell it, but the first John Wick is literally one of the greatest films ever made and quite possibly one of the achievements that mankind will be judged on by some distant, future alien species.

In late 2014, John Wick caught everyone by surprise. A hard R action movie from unknown creators starring Keanu Reeves is not exactly the kind of movie you expect to be a critical darling, but John Wick was just that. Action fans loved it and critics were blown away by its speed, world building, and performances. It felt like a time capsule from that golden era of action cinema, the 1980s and early 1990s. John Wick was like a love letter to everything that fans loved about classic action flicks and its success was well earned.

Lionsgate has announced plans to produce a a second John Wick film and they are set to bring back the original creative team of Keanu Reeves, directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, and screenwriter Derek Kolstad. The re-teaming of this crew should be a dream come true for action fans. We don’t know much about the project yet, but the fact that everyone important is back on board is a good sign. Fingers crossed that Lionsgate keeps the franchise firmly in the R-rated territory. Hopefully these guys can capture that magic of the original film and bring us another hard-hitting bullet-riddled romp.
