A James Bond-Style Credits Sequence for THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, Featuring Radiohead

Radiohead has been making the headlines this week, from erasing their entire social media presence to releasing not one, but two songs and videos from their upcoming album due sometime next month. Thanks to Vimeo user Kurt Rauffer, the band can now add and check off “Find a really cool use for the theme from Spectre we wrote that the studio decided to pass on” to their to-do list.

Kurt took arguably (let’s face it, inarguably) the best movie in the Star Wars franchise, The Empire Strikes Back, and, utilizing the Radiohead track “Spectre,” created his own James Bond-Esque opening credit sequence.

It starts off with Luke trapped in the Wampa’s ice lair. It fades to a close-up of Luke’s lightsaber, and then the camera goes INSIDE the saber. The circuitry then morphs into a schematic on an X-Wing, which then does its trench run through the first Death Star. Let us not forget about the “gratuitous main character falling” shot. This time, it’s Luke falling towards a large Darth Vader mask which shoots the red lightsaber beam from its eyes. Remember, if this is supposed to pay homage to Bond, then it’s not supposed to make complete sense. It’s just supposed to look REALLY cool. On that score, this 100% succeeds.

So what do you think? Would you like to see the rest of the series receive its own Bond-like opening? What song would fit perfectly with each movie? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below.
