As we already know, the Minecraft crowd is a creative bunch. I mean, the game is almost zero fun if you aren’t inventive to some degree. Be prepared to have your mind blown. Reddit user Magib1 is building a fully functional version of Pokémon Red in Minecraft. More impressively, it’s a straight port and not a reimagining. The mastermind behind this grand project also built a 10×9 representation of a Game Boy Color screen to play the whole thing.
This may be the coolest thing ever done in Minecraft.
As you can see by the image above, he has also built a Pokédex for the game. This is obviously impressive, and the project still has a ways to go. As of right now, Magib1 has already spent two months getting to this point, with another few more to go before the game is completed.
Here’s a little sneak peek into how things work:Â âWhen the player clicks, a reader armour stand moves and clones the row of new textures behind the display.â He continues, âdisplay armour stands then detect the block type and stick the corresponding texture on their head before moving. The player model is just swapping between a static walking and standing texture.â
I am extremely enthused about this project. Minecraft and Pokémon Red are two of my favorite games of all time, so having them in one bundle is a dream come true. Here’s a look at the in game map:
We’ll surely keep an eye in this awesome creation. Would you be interested in playing Pokémon Red in Minecraft? How impressed are you by this endeavor? Let us know in the comments below.
