7 Things About TONY HAWK PRO SKATER 5 That Will Take You Back to the ’90s

Let’s be real: we’re all trying to forget that abomination of an extreme sports title by the name of Tony Hawk: Ride. Not only because it was just an all-around bad game, but also because it basically symbolized the end of an era in extreme sports video games. After Ride‘s failure, we witnessed a rapid plunge into obscurity for skateboarding and other extreme sports video games alike. Just talking about it makes me want to tear up.

But several years have gone by, and Tony Hawk and co. are triggering their second wind to make another push in the video game space. Michele Morrow and I got a chance to hop in and play some Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 at this year’s E3, and all of you skateboarding game fans will be happy to know that our favorite pro ‘border is leading the charge in making extreme sports video games a relevant genre once again.

Check out our video at the top of page where we run through why Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5  will make you feel like it’s the ’90s again. Stay tuned here on Nerdist for more of our E3 coverage, and to chat about all of the gaming madness happening her at the convention center, I’m only one tweet away, @Malik4Play.
