Saint Valentine or Valentinius, if you want to nitpick, was celebrated with a feast on February 14 way back in 496. Today we still celebrate Valentine’s Day (in a more pagan fashion) with chocolates, roses, diamonds, or whatever we can afford, assuming we remember the date. Yes, this time of year not only dictates that we lavish one another with copious amounts of heartfelt wishes but that we pair up for one day a year, even if it be a fleeting match up. Over the years this ritual, of course, has inspired creatives to produce great poems, novels, and, wait for it, humorous videos that make us laugh away our sorrows.
