With fall comes warm-colored leaves in not-as-warm weather, football (and medical research about concussions), and, like an album sales gimme in time for the holiday shopping season, a new One Direction album–they’ve had a new record out every November since 2011.

We’re not here to talk about One Direction though; we’re here to discuss albums we are actually looking forward to this fall. A lot of heavy hitters (Janet Jackson, Adele, The Dead Weather, Grimes) are returning with new material, while there are plenty of newcomers to look forward to. As for the big question marks, we wish he had better insight for you, but we just don’t know when Kanye or Frank Ocean are dropping their new albums.

What we can tell you is what confirmed (or widely speculated) releases we’re anticipating, so that’s what we’ll do.
