Guys, it’s happening. Today may be a day many X-Men fans shed tears of joy, because the beautiful X-Men: Days Of Future Past madness has begun. We already knew a new trailer (which we’ll have here on Nerdist.com later) was set to surface after Bryan Singer’s recent instagram tease. But alongside that is a slew of character close-ups by way of Empire magazine.
Among these magazine covers is something that none of the X-Men movies has yet included: one of the most prolific enemies in the X-men realm, the Sentinel Mark I.
First up, here’s a look at the #Sentinel Mark I, circa 1973. #XMen #Empire25 @EmpireMagazine pic.twitter.com/gNcwwc68FX

Holy energy blasters, that is the embodiment of gloriousness. Definitely an improvement from the last time we saw the Mark I.
UPDATE:Â Another interesting development from today, was the inclusion of Anna Paquin’s Rogue in the series of Empire Magazine covers that were unveiled on twitter. She was originally thought to had been axed from the movie, with her only action sequence not making the movie’s final cut, but with Rogue surfacing on one of the 25 Empire mag covers, the questions from many fans certainly began to fly. Empire Magazine answered everyone’s concern with a single tweet:
For those asking if our Rogue cover means Rogue is in the movie, a definitive statement from Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg is in the issue.

Looks like there’s a chance we may see Rogue in the movie after all. 23 other characters will have their Empire magazine covers unveiled throughout the day. We’ll be consolidating all of these covers here and updating them as they come in. Tell us which ones are your favorites down below.
To see what we think of the costumes and hear our shots at the Quicksilver costume, check out this episode of Nerdist News:
Yes ive read dofp which is why im so annoyed that its been turned into another wolverine and the meat shields movie. Didnt they learn from X3 and the abortion that was the dark phoenix saga?. Singer may not have directed but schuler donner produced that pile of crap as well
Its supposed to be set in 1973 after first class where magneto paralysed xavier with moira mctaggerts bullet.
This movie has the putrid stink of Liefeld based character designs all over it. DO YOU SEE ANY FEET IN THOSE COVERS? No, they are all conveniently blocked. And Quicksilver has a bunch of unneeded pouches? Rob Liefeld.
I thought they announced a few weeks ago that Rogue or Shadowcat had ended up on the cutting room floor. Why the hell are they doing promo shots of characters that aren’t even in the movie.
For those complaining about future Wolverine having adamantium claws, umm have you read the comics? At all? Magneto has ripped every piece of it out of Wolverine, he has put it back in.
Past Xavier COULD walk, he wasn’t born disabled. It depends on at what time they go back to the past, and destinies (him being in a wheelchair) are hard to escape.
This is going to be the blockbuster of the summer you pissing and moaning are just crybaby fanboys
This is going to blow so hard. Like a pod of whales from the future surfacing in a past antarctic, surrounded by fisherman ready to kill them for their blubber. *le sigh*
Morgan to answer your question Wolverine doesn’t physically get sent back in time his consciousness is sent back. Basically his future consciousness is transferred into his younger body, which doesn’t have adamantium claws yet. In the comic it’s Kitty who goes back, not Logan, and once the mission is complete her future consciousness disappears as well as all memory of the event. Make no mistake, this movie is being made to dismantle the continuity singer originally set up and reboot the whole series.
@vismund im guessing your a fan of the movies and not the comic books. All of them apart from first class have been pony. Hes fucking with his own continuity just for cheap pops by sticking tyrion in it.
Magneto is one of the few people able to manipulate adamantium. I’m guessing he’s the one who gives Wolverine back his metal claws.
Anyone else having trouble with the slideshow? Anyone? 😉
Singer had nothing to do with The Wolverine dude and let it play out before you bitch.
the covers and s**t now give us the trailer so we can be disappointed already.
Can someone please explain how future wolverine has adamantium claws and young xavier is walking. bryan singer claims he want to tidy up the continuity because of the abortion that is x3, yet in space of two films the wolverine and first class hes fucked it up himself. Oh and dont forget that hes already had bolivar trask in his films. Bit of a difference between bill dukes and peter dinklage.
