Even for the uber massive horror fan, figuring out what to watch in October can be a rough. Do you watch old favorites? Do you try to tick off ones from your must-watch list? Do you track down rare entries by favorite horror directors? It’s enough to make you just sit idly on the couch and put on something quick and streaming. Luckily, there are plenty of excellent options for horror movies to stream on the three major streaming services, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu.
Below, you’ll find a gallery of my suggestions for the best movies to watch on streaming this weekend. My tastes tend toward the spooky and atmospheric, but there are a few gory delights in there for the bloodhounds out there. (Sidebar: Is that what fans of gore are called? Bloodhounds? I think it definitely should be if they aren’t.
For the big horror fan out there, you’ve also got Shudder, which has more horror movies than could conceivably fit into the month of October, but I’m sticking strictly to the big three streamers. But it’s plenty for folks out there who just need a scary time in the days leading up to All Hallows Ween.
