The odds of actor Daniel Craig returning for a fifth outing as British superspy James Bond bottomed out on Thursday when rumors claimed he declined a payday of £68 million (a touch over $99.3 million in American monies) to reprise the role once more. Now everybody’s freaking out because there can’t be a world without a sitting James Bond. The frontrunner for a time was Tom Hiddleston, but now the bookmaker’s odds of him getting the role have been slashed from 2-1 to 1-2 and all betting has ceased following a massive bet. “Smoke follows fire,” the bookies said.

So let’s live in a world where Tom Hiddleston isn’t bound to play James Bond, and let’s even take Idris Elba out of the equation—though we’d still 100% love it if he played the role. Let’s talk about actors (and actresses—yes, we’re going outside the box here, so long as they’re British subjects) we’d love to see play the secret agent with a license to kill. Maybe 0-0-7 of them?
