Zounds! Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” Gets a New Poster

Thor_Teaser_1-Sht_v8

While the Guardians of the Galaxy rumor mill continues to work overtime, the rest of the Marvel Universe isn’t just resting on its Herculean laurels. Today, Disney released a brand new teaser poster for their forthcoming Asgardian epic, Thor: The Dark World. A sequel to 2011’s Norse nailbiter Thor, the Alan Taylor-helmed picture puts us back in the oversized boots of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor as he squares off against Malekith the Accursed (played by none other than the good Doctor, Christopher Eccleston), a dark elf with a serious case of mythical megalomania. And in case you’ve been living under an Svartalfheim-sized rock, here’s the film’s official synopsis:

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself.  In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Also per the press release, stay tuned to Apple Trailers for a brand new trailer, which drops on Tuesday. What are you hoping for from the new Thor? Let us know in comments below.
