It looks like one of the DC Universe’s all-time greatest villains, the mercenary Deathstroke, may be making his big-screen debut even sooner than we thought, as Zack Snyder teases in the latest Justice League behind-the-scenes photo. Also in today’s Movie Morsels, a new Blade Runner 2 video, yet another Doctor Strange motion poster, and more!
Justice League
I’m much more excited about Joe Manganiello playing Slade Wilson, a.k.a. Deathstroke, than I am about almost any other actor-character pairing in the upcoming Justice League movie. Manganiello, as he’s proved in films like Magic Mike, is by far the most charismatic cast member announced for the project, with the possible exception of J.K. Simmons as James Gorden. Eh, what’s that? You didn’t know Deathstroke was going to be in the film? Well, if he’s not, than director Zack Snyder has even more explaining to do than usual. Snyder shared the following pic of himself at the drawing table during production. And look who shows up on his tablet…

Another day, another Doctor Strange motion poster… But wait! This isn’t like the character posters we’ve been seeing lately from the film. Nope, this one actually tries to replicate Strange’s reality-bending mystic powers themselves.
Through the mystic arts we harness energy and shape reality. #DoctorStrange A video posted by Marvel Studios (@marvelstudios) on
Murder on the Orient Express
Johnny Depp is gearing up to do goofy Johnny Depp things again as Ratchett, one of several passengers/murder suspects in the next big screen adaptation of Agatha Christie’s classic mystery thriller Murder on the Orient Express. Depp joins Kenneth Branagh, who directs and plays French sleuth Hercule Poirot, as well as Michelle Pfeiffer (as fellow passenger Mrs. Hubbard) and Daisy Ridley (as Mary Debenham). Can one stately luxury liner possibly be a big enough piece scenery for Depp and Branagh’s oversized thespian chompers to chew apart?!
Indiana Jones
Finally today… In case you missed it, we reported on the fantastic new Indiana Jones cartoon short fan film that has us on our knees praying that Lucasfilm/Disney/God in Heaven Above sees fit to grant its creators the opportunity to make an entire animated feature and/or TV series about the word’s most popular globetrotting archaeologist. Now that really would be fortune and glory… Check out the short here.
