The return of the Young Justice series is proof positive of the power of fandom. The short-lived series ran for only two seasons starting in 2010 and was cancelled in 2013. Its addition to Netflix in 2016 caused a resurgence in popularity that the head folks at Warner Bros. couldn’t ignore, so they began brainstorming on how to bring it back in a revitalized way. And though we’ve known about season three being in production since last year, on Friday we finally got a glimpse of the new character design San Diego Comic-Con.
Above stands the team consisting of Static, Kid Flash, Robin, Wonder Girl, Spoiler, Blue Beetle, Thirteen, Arrowette, Arsenal and Beast Boy. The character Thirteen is the newest addition to the team, and while details are still a bit sparse surrounding the team’s newest member, it feels safe to assume (and many already have) that it’s probably DC’s Traci Thirteen. She’s often portrayed as a young hero and her magical abilities have been put to use alongside Blue Beetle in the comicsâbesides, we highly doubt Warner Bros. Animation would bring back their other numerical character (and Traci’s father), Dr. Thirteen, the Ghost Breaker.
Along with their new look, the show is also getting a new name and way to watch. The series will be called Young Justice: Outsiders and debut on the upcoming DC digital streaming platform that’s due to launch sometime in 2018.
What do you think of the new character design? Think it’ll be Traci Thirteen or a gender swapped and younger Ghost Breaker? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
