When wandering at comic cons itâs easy to get overwhelmed walking in row after row, but sometimes you come across something or someone that makes you stop in the con wake. This is what happened when I went to WonderCon and happened upon some great Spider-Man artwork.
As I flipped through the artistâs portfolio, I saw progress and beauty in his drawings. The shadows were stunning and his love of Peter Parker showed through as I turned page after page of web-slinger art. The artist told me he had been drawing his WHOLE LIFE and I believed him, because at just 10-years old he seemed not only determined but comfortable as an artist.
Ethan Castillo may have just reached double digits in age but his passion for drawing is strong and much of his inspiration comes from his love of Spider-Man. His sketchbooks are filled with Spidey images, copying his favorite artistâs styles as well as handily creating his own.
Castillo has been doing shows for years, almost half of his young life, and he already has a growing fan base. As he sits behind his Artistâs Alley table his father is often mistaken for the artist but heâs quick to correct people that his son is indeed the creator of all the artwork.
While Spider-Man may be his favorite character, Castillo also is a great fan of the classic movie Back to the Future. Not only does he draw a fantastic series of aging Martys but heâs also known to cosplay as McFly while drawing at his comic con table.
This young artist definitely has a bright future ahead of him. Check out more of Ethan Castilloâs artwork in the gallery below and on his website and instagram.
