  1. A says:

I thought Cameron expressed herself very well and has interesting commentary on certain things. Overall, I think what made it work is that Pete & Carmen had a great flow & great energy together! Thanks as always Pete for the FREE podcast 🙂 🙂

  2. ann says:

Wow, she is bad. In every bit of her stories she uses and abuses people.

  3. choy says:

Why so much hate?! It was delightful and insightful as always.
Three-fifths compromise story needs to go into your act, Cameron.

  4. Rachael says:

This guest sounds like an abusive person with martyr fantasies. She’s textbook narcissistic and manic, plus her words take on an absurd tone as if she’s some sort of hero for being gay. I’m a lesbian and that’s NOTHING compared to what others face for being fat or short or ugly. If she didn’t play the gay card, people would see her as she truly is–a mediocre at best comedian and below average human being. Her holier-than-thou and I’m-such-a-victim attitude is setting back the lesbian community.

  5. Jenn says:

I’m a gay woman and glad to say Eposito is not our official spokesperson. Eposito is disgustingly narcissistic, hypocritical, delusional, self important, and her stories brag about how treats others like garbage. Lesbians in comedy are relatively common, so why is this terribly behaved person put on a pedestal?

  6. calgirl13 says:

Before I go on my rant, I’d like to say that Pete, I adore you and love your podcast.  Now, onto the rant.

I cannot stand the hypocrisy of people who shit all over sports but then get righteous when other people pick on whatever it is that they love.  On the teeny tiny chance that Ms. Esposito is reading these comments, I want to say that I am a woman around her age and I love football.  I don’t think it makes me any more ‘sad’ than people who love video games, comics, comedy, art, etc. (guess what, I like some of these things too, imagine that!).

If Cameron has some personal issues with having been picked on in high school by some jock and is still carrying that shit into adulthood, then I truly feel sorry for her.  Because that is sad.

  7. Yuri says:

Pete, I am with you on the short pants and shoes thing, man. I don’t wear short pants because I’m a grown-ass man. As for shoes, well, a good pair of shoes or boots make the man.

  8. farleyk says:

If you want to see something great, check out Cameron’s debut on the Late Late Show. It was one of the best I’ve ever seen. The interchange between her, Craig Ferguson, and Jay Leno makes you say “Damn, she is so cool”.

  9. Andrew Overbye says:

Hey Pete, fantastic episode. Love Cameron from her column on the AV Club, and loved seeing her with you at High Plains a month ago.
Have you ever considered having Tunde Adebimpe, lead singer of TV on the Radio, on the show? He is a seriously delightful fellow that I think would make a great addition to your series of episodes with musicians.
    Anyway, awesome work, as always.

  10. nathan says:

it seemed like cameron was very angry with people that werent open minded to things that she liked but was fine with being close minded about things she didnt like…it goes both ways.

  11. seems weird to rip on sport as if there’s any real difference between sport and art. like when you’re espousing the majesty of dance and music etc, all that stuff goes for sport too imo. it’s just physical theatre.

  12. Paulina says:

What are the dvds Pete sent to Cameron? Joseph Kimmel something?

  13. lalabandy says:

Adore this episode & heard no hatred/animosity towards straight men. Just seemed an honest, open, & well reasoned chat to me, all love & light. Gabbin’ like gals! <3  Such fun — thanks, Cameron & Pete.

  14. Riley says:

    Solid eppy. I loved it.

  15. Bryan says:

I’m going to work extra late just to finish this episode! She’s encouraging and fun, you’re being wide open, I’m having a blast.

  16. John says:

Pete, have you seen Cloud Atlas? Every time I hear you talk about reincarnation, I think about how much you’d flip out if you ever saw that movie.
On another note, I really think that hearing you and so many of your guests talk about falling from their faith has actually strengthened mine. It forces me to make sure my faith is coming from a place of intellectual and emotional honesty, and isn’t barred down by the cultural BS that turns so many away from the church.

  17. Peoplesounds says:

Niiice! great ep, love me some Cameron Espo! Great conversation, I love the honesty. I’m down and open to everything and am not doubting anything but I wish they got into if she had some bad experiences when she was younger, because she seems to have a lot of hatred and animosity towards straight men, which is different than loving women. A lot of negative stereotypes thrown out there haha.. Another great ep Ole Petey Pants!

    • Corntrollio says:

I’d say we’ve earned it to some extent.  Not individual straight men, but as a subsection of society that’s dictated the norm and punished the abnorm since forever it’s easy to see why some people would be irritated with some of the things we’ve done (or allowed to happen).
Come to think of it, “hatred and animosity” might be a bit of an overstatement.  I heard Cameron and Pete frankly discussing some of the ways that men tend to express their insecurities – especially in regards to their reactions to her as a lesbian woman.  I agree with you in that they may have been painting with some broad strokes, but seeing it through the lens of what I imagine her every-day experiences with men must be as a lesbian stand-up comic I can see where those ideas might have been born and reinforced.  She seems like a thoughtful and open-minded person.  I’m willing to bet that as soon as we address the flaws that seem to be inherent to our gender she’ll be more than happy to change her mind.

    • tred says:

I think the only real stereotype being thrown about is you conflating being a lesbian and having an ill past experience. I didn’t notice any animosity/hatred here just an observation of the negativity men sometimes expel into the world, and from a gay woman’s experience is quite the interesting view.

      • Peopelsounds says:

I was not conflating being a lesbian and having an ill past experience, I was conflating all the broad stroke negativity towards men with potentially a past experience. Loving women is different than hating men. I am a firm believer in sexuality not being a choice or even nurtured, but a born-with trait. I expected a troll-like response like this though 😉 I like the person before you’s reply, much more thought provoking!

  18. meethor says:

Thank you, thank you, thank you for introducing me to this delightful, young lady!

  19. Jake says:

This is easily the best episode in a long, long time… and there have been plenty of recent greats! It felt so natural and effortless.

  20. Mark says:

Some great insight happening in here, and I’m not even an hour in. Cameron is dropping some real science.

  21. m-chu says:

One of the best episodes I’ve listened to.  Loved Cameron’s episode on Joe Derosa’s podcast, and was so excited to hear with Pete.  She is an exemplary human being.

  22. Corntrollio says:

Awwww yisss.  She was brilliant on the live episode.  Can’t wait to listen.
