What an interesting guy- I have a huge brain/ nerd crush on him. This podcast was refreshing and inspiring- thanks for sharing Pete. I’m late to the party but sorry about the show- I’m sure something else great will come along.
I’m working my way through all of the podcasts. I’m still in 2012. I’m hoping they put your show out. I’d love to have a dvd with the show and some sketches. Maybe some unaired stuff.
Sad I never got to see “The Pete Holmes Show” in it’s entirety (too poor for cable), but I watched the clips on YouTube whenever I could and shared them on Twitter. Pete, if nothing else, you gave a LOT more exposure to some very funny people and you gave your friends / writers a steady paycheck and something to add to their CVs. Be very proud of that! And if you don’t’ mind future podcast guests suggestions….how about having Neil deGrasse Tyson on to discuss “COSMOS” and how some people freaked out over it (but shouldn’t have)? Or have Dr. Steven P. Novella of “The Skeptics’ Guide to the Universe” on to discuss “woo” and how to spot it and why some “woo” is especially bad for you (think anti-vax)? More importantly…when are ya coming back to Cleveland, Ohio Pete? You killed at The Grog Shop.
Sweet Pete, I’m so sorry to hear about your show. You and your crew had me laughing out loud on otherwise quiet evenings alone. Thanks for keeping me company. I still look forward to every podcast! Take good care and keep it both weird and crispy! Much love!
Sorry to hear about the show, Pete, but honestly, I thought this episode was wonderful. Just the right amount of weird and I thought Bill rolled with it quite nicely. My boyfriend is a big fan of Bill’s and I think he’ll get a real kick out of this one.
I’m sorry your show got cancelled I’m in a bad mode from it. I’m glad they gave u a chance but for crap sake ur show was higher quality than the Big Bang theory and just every tbs show. I really hope another network picks up your show because it would make allot of lives not enjoyable knowing something that funny is on 4 nights a week. Great episode, a not too impressionable atheist and interesting!
Don’t worry about cancellation Pete. If history shows us anything, it’s that TV executives don’t know what their viewers want. In a world where a show like Firefly can get cancelled, I know no show is safe, no matter how good!
So as a true weirdo (and I genuinely love this show), I can say this: I FELT the loss of confidence in your voice. It wasn’t an awful interview by a long shot – you made it sound worse in the intro; however, there was a tangible uncertainty lingering in the air. Interestingly, over the last 6 months, especially since you got the TV show, there was a noticeable INCREASE in confidence up until today. I remember thinking, during the Mark Gosselar interview, that you sounded so “chingon” and polished and carefree and I was proud of you for that. The Bill Nye interview was a more reserved Pete – thoughtful and possibly even a little bit intimidated. And I’m proud of you for that too. We all get to climb our mountains but we get to experience out valleys, too. You’ll be back on top sooner or later and we’ll all still be here.
You scared me with that opener, but this wasn’t even close to the weirdest. I was expecting some Wayne Federman slamming doors shut bullshit, this was a “true delight”.
Very sorry to hear about the show cancellation. Glad you got a chance to do something real and share it, it won’t be your last.
Agreed! I kept waiting for you to ask Bill if he was upset he didn’t get the E-trade baby spot.
Also really sorry to hear about the show. I thought you put it well in your letter though. Very happy that 70 show body of work exists. Time to break into feature films maybe?
You make your guests HOLD the microphone up the entire time? For like 2 hours? Holy moly.
Anywho, I only got 22 minutes in before I had to go to work, so I’m looking forwarding to finishing this up at home later. I LOVE YOU, PETE!
I loved the weirdness between Pete and Bill in this episode! Also, as a person in their late 20’s, I have loved Bill Nye basically my entire life, so it was weird to hear him using swear words! But cool, too. He is funny and engaging and Pete, you did a great job of interviewing him, but making it more of a discussion than an interview. Pete, it sucks your show got cancelled. I’m in Canada and we don’t have TBS here, so I followed your YouTube channel and all that as best I could, but I loved it. Onwards and upwards for you! And I can’t wait to read Bill Nye’s book!! When he went “BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY – OUT!” at the end, I almost died laughing.
didnt think it was TOO weird, but it was strange that Bill just didn’t totally mesh with Pete’s shtick and would be oddly taken aback by things. Otherwise this was a good episode!
This was a fantastic podcast. Don’t want you to take this the wrong way Pete, but you’ve really improved as an interviewer. I haven’t listened in a while and did great with your questions and interactions without interrupting.
Bill Nye? Bill Nye. Bill Nye! Sweet christ this podcast has had some amazing guests recently. I recognize that its probably gauche or clumsy or whatever to suggest guests, but if you guys found some way to get George Saunders in for an episode I think my head would explode via influx of pure joy.
There’s a bit of tension in this one for sure, but I don’t think its as weird as Pete warns in the intro. Really great episode!
it was alpha particles, I think my heart sunk a mile when the great Bill Nye got something so simple wrong
What an interesting guy- I have a huge brain/ nerd crush on him. This podcast was refreshing and inspiring- thanks for sharing Pete. I’m late to the party but sorry about the show- I’m sure something else great will come along.
At some points Bill Nye sounds like Nick Offerman
I don’t think your disclaimer in the intro was needed – great talk!

I would love to see Neil Degrasse Tyson on the podcast now.
I second that emotion!
i see that you did there
I love Bill Nye.

More enjoyable I meant

it was funny when pete asked if he was in therapy and bill was like “no!” like that would be the most shameful thing
Hey Pete! I loved this one and I’m glad you listened to the fans and got some scientists. They can be weird too!
I must say, Bill Nye has a really nice voice.

The Detroit Tigers sportscaster: Ernie Harwell.

Where in Canada? I live in Canada too and I’m not trying to brag, but I get TBS and still don’t watch it.

Great episode. Fuck TBS.
Short, simple, true.

Hey old Petey Pants! I get the feeling we won’t see the last of you on screen. I’ll keep listening.
So happy you’re having scientists on the show Pete. Can’t wait to listen to this one!
That was one of the best.

Bill Nye? Cool idea Mr. Holmes. Can’t wait to hit play. 🙂
