As an Irishman who was feeling homesick, this cheered me up immensely. Taste of home!

  2. Nora says:

Literally one of the funniest guys on there, I seen the show he did in NY. My cheeks (facial, lol) were killing me after the gig from the laughing.

  3. LSchdt says:

    more wank anecdotes.

  4. Caro says:

This is one of the most enjoyable interviews I’ve heard in a long time. 1st time listener and you’ve got me hooked!

  5. Laura says:

I keep on coming back to listen to ‘Life’!!

Also, is this the first time Pete left and the guest kept going? It feels like it.

  6. Liz Locksley says:

Definitely need more of this, it was perfect!

Also, this = DoD. Of course.

  7. hester says:

oh please do come to berlin! it’s true, we’re all artists and musicians and poets and comedian-artist-musician-poets. also some jugglers.
meanwhile this is a wonderfully sensitive, insightful and funny episode. connection and learning. good. stuff. thank you.

  8. Patty Marvel says:

I’ve liked The DOD ever since I heard him perform on a live Nerdist podcast. Following him on Twitter is a fine idea.

@Petie Pants – I second The DOD’s recommendation that you watch “A Bit of Fry & Laurie” featuring Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie. I first saw the show while visiting friends in Brighton and THIS remains my favorite bit of theirs to this day: http://youtu.be/PlrtcsBU40w

I also recommend seeing Fry and Laurie in “Black Adder,” especially the Elizabethan series, and “Stephen Fry in America.” All of these are available via Instant Watch on Netflix.

  9. Billy Ho says:

Only 2 hours in, already love this guy

  10. DZucca says:

Learned about David through watching Nevermind The Buzzcocks on youtube. Glad to see him on the podcast!

  11. Wear says:

    Mother of God.

  12. atomsmith says:

    Fuck you, Pete.

I waited over three fucking hours for you to get to the speed round and make an Irish Spring joke.

Fuck you forever. Every day fuck you.

  13. Andre says:

The life song is my favorite thing in the whole world holy god.

  14. KeanSeenan says:

This podcast was brilliant. Big fan of the DOD, seen him live a few times in Ireland. Despite knowing much of the Irish history stuff already, I’m Irish, this was a constantly engaging podcast

  15. I had the pleasure of seeing Pete for the first time a few hours before this was recorded. Pretty sure Pete only learnt the word “minge” recently if the live podcast was anything to go by.

  16. Clay says:

Pete GREAT EP. Fitting an episode with an Irishman would be as long as Ulysses by Joyce. Definitely worth the listen, however I wouldn’t listen straight through like I did, too much awesome!

  17. Vicky says:

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was over the moon when I saw DOD was to be a guest on YMIW. He’s one of my favorite comics. The interview did not disappoint. In fact, it is probably now my all time favorite episode.

  18. Michael says:

When David and Pete spoke about that anxiety you can find yourself feeling, and the way hanging out with friends trumps mulling it over ceaselessly in terms of sending you satisfied to sleep that night….I take a lot of comfort in moments like the one I just had, listening to the podcast and feeling that bump in my own peace as David sort of deciphers how he gets there himself. I just felt connected and at peace and I THANK YOU Peter you wonderful man! Glad everyone is listening and you’re talking your life out loud for us, thanks 😀

  19. ButtPlug69 says:

Love DOD! I’m a big fan of 8 out of 10 cats it’s always great when he’s on the show.

  20. Melissa says:

loved this ep like always! On a slightly buzzed noted I’m going to throw an idea out there. I love when people sing along to the pop songs. It would be great if you did a mash up type of call in episode of fans and friends singing along to random pop songs!

K tnx I needed to get that thought out into the universe!

  21. mikachu says:

    The Amelie bit was HILAR!!

  22. Brian says:

Stalin was from Georgia, not Ukraine

  23. Kevin C says:

Holy shit he doesn’t stop talking for 3 and a half hours!!

  24. ert says:

I laughed so hard at the Amelie stuff. Good episode. The Ireland talk was interesting. Also, so close to the legendary 4 hour mark.

  25. Allen Wrench says:

That song at the beginning was amazing.

  26. matt says:

this is kinda weird, but after being at the taping of jeselnik offensive last night and watching amazingly funny people be squashed and cut into this for tv thing, it pleased my heart to see a 3 hr and 40 minute you made it weird this morning.

  27. Steve says:

    This pleases me greatly.
