If you are a Potterhead who is looking to collect a significant piece of Harry Potter history, and you’ve got some serious cash to shell outâand are proud to say you are perfectly normal, thank you very muchâthen have I got some real estate news for you. The home that was used in the film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone as the pre-Hogwarts residence to Harry Potter and the utterly ordinary abode to Vernon, Petunia, and Dudley Dursley is up for sale!
Number 4 Privet Drive is actually located in Martins Heron, Bracknell. As the Daily Mail reports, though the home’s exterior still looks quite similar to what we saw in the film, the owners have made some serious upgrades to the residence since we last saw it on the big screen. Unsurprisingly, it’s a great little home for any UK family or Potterhead real estate tycoon. The house has a lovely garden, is close to a train stop for commuters, and yes, it definitely still has the iconic cupboard under the stairs.
So how much will this piece of Potter history run you? Back in 2010 the home sold for 290K pounds, but if you want to scoop up the Dursley’s home for yourself, you’ll need to be ready to shell out a whopping 490K poundsâthat’s over $600,000 American. While owning the Dursley’s home wouldn’t be as magical as getting to stay in Hogwarts, it would be pretty amazing to own and live in an actual part of the films so many of us grew up watching and loving.
Would you buy the Dursley’s home if you could? Would you do anything special with the cupboard under the stairs? Tell us your ideas in the comments!
