Warning: Massive spoilers are ahead for X-Men: Gold #30!
For months, Marvel has built up the wedding of Kitty Pryde and Colossus as the superhero social event of the season. This week’s X-Men Gold #30 was supposed to be the culmination of that decades long romance. But Marvel couldn’t resist spoiling the twist a day early. It turns out Kitty and Colossus won’t be getting married after all. Instead, longtime lovebirds Rogue and Gambit will leap at the chance to say “I do” and have an impromptu ceremony to make it official.
The New York Times broke the story, but the Rogue and Gambit marriage isn’t even the biggest news. Rogue and Gambit are also getting their own ongoing series, which will spin out of this issue. It’s called Mr. and Mrs. X, and it will be written by Kelly Thompson, who scripted the Rogue & Gambit miniseries earlier this year, with art by Oscar Bazaldua. What’s next for the newlyweds? According to Marvel, the first issue will fill in the blanks on Rogue and Gambit’s wedding, since the twist is sudden in X-Men Gold #30. From there, the couple will be going into space for their honeymoon, and they’ll be running up against the Shi’ar Imperial Guard, Technet, and Deathbird while reconnecting with their allies, the Starjammers.
Mr. and Mrs. X #1 will be released in July.
