Far too many of the comic-based super powers we wish we could have will never, ever exist. Humans won’t fly unaided, ever. Teleportation is unlikely. Heat vision would melt your own eyes first.
But magnets? Those exist. And while you may never be able to alter the Earth’s magnetic field in the way Erik Lehnsherr (or whatever he’s calling himself these days) can, it is entirely possible to make a Magneto toy with magnetic powers. We just haven’t seen it done very much.
Yes, the original Toy Biz X-Men series had a Magneto with magnets, but they were big and cumbersome, and that was a long time ago. Nowadays, Asian companies like Hot Toys regularly use magnets to attach toys to display bases, or hold pieces of armor together. It was about time somebody circled back around to giving Magneto some just to show off his mutant skillz.
In this super-poseable Revoltech Amazing Yamaguchi 6.5 inch figure, the magnets are inside special effects pieces that attach to Magneto’s hands, and make him a valuable desk accessory as well as an articulated toy. His cape also contains multiple joints so you can move it out of the way of whatever he’s picking up.
This Magneto is not to be confused with the Michael Fassbender version of Magneto, who in real life only has the power of animal magnetism. And who likely cannot be shipped to your home for $74.99, like this action figure can.
Is this righteous mutant the perfect desktop plaything? Or will he be recruited into bigger battles on your home shelves? Leave your thoughts below!
