James Howlett, wouldn’t look like the Wolverine without his famous adamantium claws. But the only reason he’s outfitted with deadly blades is his underlying mutant ability to quickly regenerate tissue damage. Wolverine also wouldn’t look like Wolverine if he wasn’t totally swole bro. If he can quickly regenerate tissue damage, which we associate with exercise, wouldn’t any training regimen quickly turn him into the ultimate body builder?
In my latest Because Science, I’m scarfing down some protein bars and nutri-shakes to figure out whether or not superhuman recovery from damage would lead to bigger and better muscles. I think common sense dictates that it probably would, but didn’t that common sense come from listening to someone who eats kale chips? What is the real relationship between muscle damage and muscle growth? While the body is incredibly complicated, I think there is enough research to quantify Logan’s propensity towards jackeditude.
