Wizards and Icons: Nerdist News Talks To Ralph Bakshi

Ralph Bakshi is making an appearance at Wondercon 2012 in Anaheim this weekend, and he took a few moments to talk to our pals at Nerdist News for a typically blunt and provocative interview. It’s been 35 years since the release of Wizards, which marked the animation legend’s turn from social satire like Fritz the Cat towards fantasy, and the interview covers a possible Wizards sequel, CGI vs. hand-drawn vs. motion-capture, his response to Peter Jackson’s version of Lord of the Rings, new projects, and much more, including cameo appearances by Frank Capra and Orson Welles. If you’re into animation at all, you’ll want to read the interview, so go over to Nerdist News and do that. (And if you’ll be at Wondercon, he’s speaking Saturday in a Q&A after a screening of the remastered Wizards at 6:30 pm.

But there’s also this: Nerdist News is giving away two special collectible 35th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray discs of Wizards. By now, you know the drill: Click here, fill in your name and address (which also gets you signed up for the Nerdist News newsletter if you aren’t getting it already), that’s it. The compete rules are linked at the entry page, and there will be bonus entry opportunities at Nerdist News’ Twitter and Facebook pages. The contest ends March 20th. Go enter now.
