Wireless Midi Controller ACPAD Turns Acoustic Guitar Into Full Studio

Electronic elements of music are seeping more and more into every genre and style these days, and this blending has in turn birthed new sounds and styles. For the do-it-yourself type of artist, it can be highly time-consuming to get multiple tracks of a song recorded, processed, and then played back in order to hear how they sound together. Even worse is, once those are set, figuring out a way to replicate that sound at a gig without playing along to a laptop, or convincing other people to play with you.

Well, the ACPAD offers a way to make both studio and live playing even easier. This MIDI controller can be affixed to the body of an acoustic guitar and can put even more of the music literally at your finger tips. The ACPAD is capable of both wireless and USB MIDI connections and offers an endless variety of sound effects and loops to be used in conjuncture with your acoustic guitar. I mean, just listen to what is possible with ACPAD and a crap-load of guitar skill in that video.

The ACPAD is the dream of German musician Robin Sukroso, and was created as an easier means of creating the blended sounds of electric and acoustic music that he loved. It took Sukroso three years of research and development before achieving the version of ACPAD that he displays in his video. Partnering with IIT Bombay in India, they have created the 2mm-thick interface that can be adhered to an acoustic guitar like a pick guard, in order to allow the guitar to maintain the same auditory integrity.

The ACPAD runs on a rechargeable battery, or can be plugged in for USB MIDI use when sessions run longer than the battery life. Sukroso plans to bring the ACPAD to Kickstarter soon, and anyone who is interested can sign up for updates at their official website.

What do you think? Will this be a big hit with musicians? Let us know in the comments below.
