Will Yoda Return in STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII?

Earlier this week, Star Wars: Episode VIII director Rian Johnson teased the return of Maz Kanata, but what if she’s not the only small, but powerful Force user coming back for the film? That’s right, the O.G. Jedi himself, Yoda could be making a comeback and we’re examining the evidence on today’s Nerdist News!

Jedi-in-training and Nerdist News host Jessica Chobot has the intel from the set of Episode VIII (courtesy of Making Star Wars). And there are potential spoilers ahead for the film and how Yoda might make his comeback. So, this is your last chance to turn back and stop reading…

While Star Wars: The Force Awakens didn’t explicitly say which planet Luke Skywalker was hanging out on, the ancillary material has identified the planet as Ach-To, the site of the very first Jedi temple. And why would Luke spend so much time there after his worst student ever, Kylo Ren destroyed the Jedi academy? The theory is that Ach-To may be inhabited by the Force ghosts of several dead Jedi, including the beloved Jedi Master, Yoda!

Star Wars Rebels fans have been able to enjoy Frank Oz’s Yoda voice once again, which would hopefully mean that he’d be up for reprising his role in Episode VIII as well. The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams has said that he recorded new dialogue by Oz for his film before ultimately using old audio clips of Yoda for Rey’s Force vision. Has the time finally come for Yoda to return in Episode VIII? We want to see it happen!

What do you think about Yoda’s potential appearance in Star Wars: Episode VIII? Let’s discuss in the comment section below!
