If you keep your finger as affixed to the comic book movie pulse at we here at Nerdist try to, youâve likely already snatched up a good deal of information and footage from the upcoming DC Comics venture Suicide Squad. Still, with as much as weâve read, heard, and seen from the filmâthis morning’s extended look at the Jokerâs psychological menace includedâplenty of questions remain. Exactly where in Warner Brosâ expanding cinematic canon will this film take place? Will we see glimpses of Harley Quinnâs past as a revered psychiatrist? Will this movie debut Will Smith’s latest eponymous rap theme?
But our newest and most probing question: Does Joker don the Batsuit in Suicide Squad?
No, this query isnât out of nowhereâin fact, it hit at the insuperably apt venue of San Diego Comic-Con, where Hot Toys displayed a line of figures from the upcoming movie. Among the lot: a Joker collectible clad in Dark Knight garb, which our pals at Birth.Movies.Death took as a hint of one of Suicide Squadâs remaining big reveals.
On one hand, itâs hardly beyond the realm of possibility that the figure is nothing more than a fun amalgam of Bruce Wayne and the Clown Princeâs signature stylesâa geek-friendly juxtaposition of Batsâ black rigidity and the Jokerâs colorful chaos. On the other, weâve got plenty of fuel for the fire heating our theories in favor of the all-smiles baddie’s own menacing take on cosplay.
After all, a quick scene at the beginning of Batman v Superman would suggest that this lineage’s Joker has practice screwing with the attire of Gotham heroes. Plus, a Batsuit disguise could allow Joker easier entry into or exit of the Arkham Asylum. And finally, well… it’d just be pretty cool. And that’s enough reason to believe anything in this business.
