Say this sentence out loud and try not to get excited: Last Man on Earth, the Will Forte-fronted comedy from The LEGO Movie‘s Phil Lord and Chris Miller, has gotten a series order over at Fox. It’s all right â we’re feeling just as anticipatory as you are.
Last Man on Earth stars Forte as â wait for this shocking twist â the last man on earth. Created by and written by Forte, the Saturday Night Live alum will also executive produce the single camera comedy series alongside his recent LEGO compatriots (Forte voiced Abraham Lincoln) Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The duo will also direct the pilot.
Set to premiere midway through the 2014-2015 season, the comedy landed at the network following a multi-network bidding war, hopefully signaling good things for the trio’s third collaboration together. Forte previously worked with Lord and Miller on not only The LEGO Movie, but also their first television series, the highly underrated Clone High. And considering the fact that Forte also recently starred in the Oscar-nominated Nebraska, we’re fairly certain he’ll be able to nail the “desolate and alone” mental crisis that would undoubtedly come with the realization that you might be the only man alive. Though, truth be told, he’s likely to not be the only, only person alive: surely he’ll have some co-stars, right?
Are you looking forward to the series? Let us know in the comments.
