Why Shannon Woodward Thinks WESTWORLD is Like Twitter

A world where anything is possible; a world there all your greatest curiosities can be piqued; a world where you can do or say whatever you want without retribution for your actions. No, we’re not talking about Westworld, we’re talking about Twitter. And while that may be a surprise to some of you, according to Behavior Engineer Elsie Hughes (a.k.a. actress Shannon Woodward), it shouldn’t. The brilliant mind helping to cultivate this theme park of moral horrors is just as curious about what’s going on as you are on the HBO adaptation of the Michael Crichton movie from the 1970s, but she’s also got a handle on it beyond our own understanding—particularly when it comes to those pesky humans that spend so much money to be there.

From the comparisons to Twitter eggs to what sort of park she’d like to design herself, Woodward walks us through the threads and ideas that keep us glued to our TVs on Sunday nights, launching weekly theory rabbit holes so deep, they’ve burrowed all the way out to the other side. Check out our full interview above — an extended cut of our chat during Monday night’s premiere episode of Fangirling.

What’s Fangirling you ask? Why, it’s our new show featuring Alicia Lutes (hey, that’s me!) and Rachel Heine, featuring all the best things we love to love and a celebration of all things fangirl.

Make sure to check out Fangirling LIVE every Monday from 5pm PST (8pm PST) to 6pm PST for more Fangirling on Alpha and the Nerdist Twitch channel!
