Who Is the Redhead in the Latest SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Photos?

He’s amazing! Spectacular! Superior! And just our good ol’ friendly neighborhood Spider-Man… But who is the mystery woman in his arms in the latest spy photos from the set of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming? It’s the big question on our minds in today’s Movie Morsels. In which we’ve also got the first TV spot for Robert Zemeckis’ Allied, a look at Neill Blomkamp‘s next film, and a whole helluva lot more!

Spider-Man: Homecoming

We already know that Zendaya is playing Peter Parker’s high school sweetheart Mary Jane Watson in Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming. (Even though in the comics MJ originally met Peter when they were in college, but whatever.) Will Zendaya, however, sport MJ’s trademark red hair? If so, is MJ the redheaded character who has been sighted in a new stunt scene from the film? Photos and video of stunt performers in the roles of Spidey and a mystery woman suspended from a flying helicopter have landed online. While it might be too soon to tell if we’re looking at Mary Jane, my money’s on the perennially popular Ms. Watson. Take a look, true believers!

Allied

Apparently there was some sort of high-profile celebrity divorce announced yesterday. Anybody know what that’s all about? Nah, me neither. But I do know about good movies. And a new video preview of Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard in Robert Zemeckis’ World War II romantic thriller Allied looks simply smashing! Whether or not it proves to be this century’s Casablanca (a classic it appears keen on referencing) remains to be seen. For now, let’s just enjoy two glamorous movie stars doing what they do best…

The Escape

Love him or hate him, Neill Blomkamp is back. After the poorly received Elysium and the even more poorly received Chappie, the South African director returns to the world of short filmmaking with BMW’s The Escape. It celebrates the 15th anniversary of the company’s series of mini-movies-cum-ads, collectively known as The Hire, that starred the unflappable Clive Owen way back in 2001 and ’02. Here, Owen returns as his mysterious “The Driver” character, joined this time by Dakota Fanning, Jon Bernthal, and Vera Farmiga. The Escape premieres on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 6 PM EST on BMWFilms.com, but you can watch a behind-the-scenes preview of the action below. Hey, at the very least it will give you something to do while you wait for Blomkamp’s Alien sequel!

The Only Living Boy in New York

Underworld

Range, thy name is Kate Beckinsale… After featuring in this year’s hilarious period comedy Love & Friendship and the new horror thriller The Disappointments Room, Lady Kate will return to her role as Selene (pictured above) in the next Underworld movie AND star in The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb’s The Only Living Boy in New York. I’m hoping Only Living Boy will be a return to form for the (500) Days of Summer helmer, even if his latest will forego comedy for a straight drama. Co-starring Callum Turner, Kiersey Clemons and Jeff Bridges, the film is about a college grad (played by Turner) who falls for his dad’s mistress (Beckinsale). Well, there are way more films about older men romancing younger women than there are films about older women romancing younger men, so more power to this one!

The Whole Truth

Last but not least today, we have another genre star headlining a straight drama. Keanu “Don’t Call Me Neo” Reeves arrives with The Whole Truth. The once and future John Wick plays a defense attorney handling a case in which a teenager (Gabriel Basso) is accused by his mother (Renée Zellweger) of killing his father (Jim Belushi). If the film is half as intense as the trailer, it should be at least as entertaining as a Lifetime movie? Anyway, here’s our first look…
