Who Died on This Week’s THE WALKING DEAD? Let’s Go to the Audio

If you follow the Walking Dead comics, you know who should have died during the final scene of last weekend’s episode. The entire reason everyone was so sure Glenn was alive the last time he seemed most definitely dead is that we all figured they had to do his memorable comic-book murder at the hands of Negan and his barbed-wire bat Lucille.

And then we got that ending. We were promised a death, and much like the week before when it seemed Daryl had died and that got walked back immediately, the show gave us something so vague we don’t know who it happened to, or how bad the damage is going to be. We assume that whomever it was did indeed die, because Gale Anne Hurd said so. But who? And are there any clues that we’re missing?

YouTuber Federico Trione thinks so. By carefully analyzing the audio, and (let’s be honest) adding a dose of confirmation bias, he thinks there’s definite proof it was indeed Glenn. Steven Yeun’s contract being up is arguably a stronger hint, but who knows what lengths the producers will go to to misdirect?

Watch and listen to the video above, with annotations that purport to explain and transcribe every utterance, and see if you think Mr. Trione is on to something. Frankly, if he is, we wouldn’t put it past the show to suddenly change the script just so he isn’t. They’re sneaky that way. If the show did what was obvious, it wouldn’t need an after-show.

What’s your theory? Is the victim who we think it is? The comments are yours for the speculating…
