Which X-MEN Cast Members Know the ’90s X-MEN Cartoon Theme Song?

For an entire generation of fans, it was the X-Men animated series from the early ’90s that introduced them to the mutant heroes of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, not the comic books, or even the later blockbuster movies. Originally running from 1992-1997, the show was one of Fox Kid’s network’s most highly-rated cartoon shows back when it aired on Saturday mornings, and was singularly responsible for making the X-Men a household name.

Sure, the animation was crude, the voice acting was super cheesy, and the storytelling couldn’t begin to hold a candle to Fox Kid’s other comic-based show at the time: Batman: The Animated series. But there was still something super charming about the show regardless of all these things, something that just imprinted itself on a generation of kids.

Among that generation of kids were two of the current big screen X-Men, actors James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult (Charles Xavier and Beast, respectively.) When asked by Yahoo! movies at last week’s Comic-Con in San Diego if they could sing the classic X-Men cartoon show’s theme song, both happily obliged, and sang the show’s catchy theme music from memory without missing a beat, much to the shock of their X-Men: Apocalypse co-stars Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender. In fact, McAvoy even admitted to having the animated theme song as his ring tone, back when they were shooting X-Men: First Class a few years ago.

So check out the video below, and just try to keep that X-Men theme music out of your head for the rest of the day.
