What We Know About AGENT CARTER Season 2 So Far

Look out, Los Angeles because Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) is headed west. Season two of Marvel’s Agent Carter is almost here, and when it arrives, we’ll be packing our bags and saying goodbye to New York City. Season one ended with Peggy’s Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) co-workers finally seeing her as an equal, even though Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) took credit for her work. With the help of Jarvis (James D’Arcy), Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj), and the SSR, Peggy stopped Dr. Fennhoff from exacting revenge and almost captured Dottie Underwood (Bridget Regan). The case of the season was solved, and the SSR was poised to move on. Season two will pick up a few months later, and things have changed. Here’s what we know:

Location, Location, Location

It’s time to leave behind the skyscrapers for palm trees. Chief Thompson has sent Carter to Los Angeles to help Sousa, now the Chief of the Los Angeles branch of the SSR, with a case. The time period—the 1940s—means Los Angeles is glitzy and elegant. It’s the Atomic Age, and everything looks shiny in both the science and entertainment industries.

And don’t worry, the move doesn’t mean Peggy will be without Jarvis. He’s already on the west coast because of Howard. As you can imagine, Jarvis is disdainful towards everything about Los Angeles, from avocados to the abysmal traffic.

The Case at Hand

As mentioned, Peggy is tapped to help with a mysterious case: A murder that comes across Sousa’s desk is more than it seems. The season synopsis says, “She’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect.” The use of the word “mask” is a nice tip-off to the fact that Madame Masque, a.k.a. Whitney Frost, is appearing in the second season as the foe. She’s an actress and a genius inventor and sure to be an interesting foil for Peggy.

The synopses for the two-hour season two premiere reveal the homicide in question is tied to Isodyne Energy. It’s a corporation created for the series. Co-showrunner Tara Butters mentioned the presence of Darkforce in the upcoming season during San Diego Comic-Con, so I’m guessing the matter is somehow tied to Isodyne Energy.

Agent Carter Season 2

Faces Familiar and New

We’ve already established Jarvis, Jack, and Daniel will be back, but who else will we see again? Howard and Dottie will return and so will Rose (Lesley Boone). Rose is the SSR receptionist who tells Peggy, “Love the hat,” in the first episode of the series. Angie (Lyndsy Fonseca) will make a brief appearance in a dream sequence but not in person—as far as we know.

But don’t worry! Peggy will bond with some different women. She’ll be pals with Rose and the lovely Ana Jarvis (Lotte Verbeek). We’re finally meeting Jarvis’ wife, and she seems delightful. Three other fresh and important faces include Whitney/Madame Masque (Wynn Everett), politician and Whitney’s husband Calvin Chadwick (Currie Graham), and leader of the Maggia crime syndicate Joseph Manfredi (Ken Marino). You can see many of these characters in the gallery below.

Season two of Agent Carter will premiere on Tuesday, January 19 at 9 p.m. on ABC. If you want to rewatch season one, it’s currently available to stream for free at ABC.
