What THE DARK TOWER Movie May Change from the Books

With casting news for the live-action adaptation of The Dark Tower, one of our favorite literary series of all time, hitting the presses today, we were stoked to confirm that two of our favorite actors were cast in the lead roles: Idris Elba as The Gunslinger, Roland Deschain, and Matthew McConaughey as Walter, the Man in Black. While we are beyond thrilled with the perfection of these casting choices, and even more excited that shooting for the movie will begin in a mere 7 weeks in South Africa, we have some insider information about an older draft of the script that makes us want to nerd out for just a quick second. How many changes from the books are going to be made in this film? The fans deserve to know!

Join Jessica Chobot as we break down the plot details hinted at by acclaimed director Nikolaj Arcel and Stephen King in a recent interview, what they might refer to from the old scripts, and why we are nervous to see those plot-changing aspects of the screenplay make it onto the big screen, on today’s Nerdist News.

Thanks for watching today’s show! In case you missed it, check out the latest episode of Nerdist: Play, where Malik is teaching us all how not to suck at Mortal Kombat X.

Finally, let us know in the comments below if you think the changes Arcel and King mentioned are too different from the book, or a welcome change — we want to discuss!
