Ween Will Reunite for Two Concerts in 2016

For a long time, Ween were some of the weirdest dudes in indie rock, so music got a lot less strange when the band announced in 2012 that they were calling it quits.

“We had a really full career,” frontman Gene Ween, real name Aaron Freeman, told us in an interview last year. “Just like things wind up–things wind down. I can’t speak for Mickey [Melchiondo, Jr., aka Dean Ween], but I know he knows that. Things were winding down. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. And I f-cking love Ween. I loved it. It was incredible. I’m so proud of it.”

It turns out that Freeman isn’t entirely ready to close the door on Ween: The band announced today that they are reuniting for two shows at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado on Presidents’ Day Weekend, February 12 and 13. In a press release penned by Freeman and Melchiondo the shows will be “f-cking mind-blowing” and will include “new stuff that nobody has ever heard live before.”

If there’s new material, does that mean there’s also a new album on the way? That hasn’t been addressed at this point, but Ween is anything but predictable. After all, they did release a golden-age country album, 12 Golden Country Greats, in 1996 (and to make matters even more funny, the album only had 10 tracks).

The band also shared a trailer for the two shows, which unfortunately doesn’t seem to have any Easter egg info hidden somewhere within. Regardless, check it out below and let us know in the comments if you think we’ll eventually be graced with a new Ween album.
