Things are starting to heat up on the marketing train for HBOâs upcoming Damon Lindelof drama, The Leftovers. Almost every week now, weâve gotten a new trailer for the series, and today not only do we get a new TV spot, we get two:
Itâs interesting how different trailers have sold this show. Some have gone a very melodramatic route, as is typical for an HBO series, some have gone the very ominous, not very plot heavy route and others, like these two, have gone the high-octane route. Itâs impossible to know at this point how the series is going to pan out, but thus far everything has looked stellar, with excellent writing and beautiful performances.
For the uninitiated, The Leftovers is adapted from the Tom Perrotta novel about a world reeling from the apparent rapture that saw 2% of the global population disappear, never to be heard from again. Now, years later, those not taken must deal with the fact that life still has to continue despite their futures now seemingly set in stone.
Itâs going to be hard for HBO to follow-up the new series double whammy of True Detective and Silicon Valley, but it appears theyâre going to try their hardest to make as impactful of a dent with this  new show.
The Leftovers premieres June 29th on HBO.
