If you havenât caught the first two seasons of Veep, HBOâs political comedy starring Seinfeldâs Julia Louis-Dreyfus, nowâs the time. HBO has just released a teaser for the showâs third season that shows Vice President Selina Meyer (Louis-Dreyfus) throwing, naturally, a hissy fit, ensnared in a bushel of patriotic balloons. Take a look at the clip below:
Veep comes from series creator, writer, director and producer Armando Iannucci, the brilliant mind behind BBC series The Thick of It and the Oscar nominated film In the Loop. In its two-year run, the show has been nominated at the Emmys, the Critics Choice Awards, the SAG Awards, and the Writers Guild Awards, and is a top contender for one of the best Emmy acceptance speeches ever. Modeled after the documentary-style of Iannucci’s British political satire The Thick of It, Veep takes place in the Vice Presidentâs office and shows the inner workings of the frustrated, foul-mouthed leader and her mostly incompetent staff (Anna Chlumsky, Tony Hale, Matt Walsh).
After two seasons, it’s safe to say that this irreverent satire is sharply funny, endlessly quotable, and clever in a way that feels almost effortless. Make sure you catch up with Selina’s Vice Presidential antics before next season.
Veep Season 3 premieres on HBO Sunday, April 6th at 10pm.
