“In a world…where voice actors do live performances in an desperate attempt to get audiences to love them even more…”
There really isn’t a better way to sum up the concept of live performances of popular animated television shows than with those words. The idea of having a voice cast read a script live feels like it’s something that shouldn’t be too much fun, but the spectacle of witnessing the voices of beloved characters come out of the people who perform them is an absolute delight, and turns out to be one of the most special things a show could do. The cast of Bob’s Burgers went the extra mile with that spectacle and created this faux movie trailer to screen before the 2016 Bob’s Burgers Live shows at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles.
A recent post by Laughing Squid featured Bobs Burgers Live – The Movie, which was directed by Kristen Schaal and features the cast and creator of the hit FOX show. Beyond just introducing the voice cast of Schaal,  H. Jon Benjamin, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Larry Murphy, John Roberts and Kevin Kline, the trailer has its fair share of intrigue. It seems there’s a pattern emerging between their live shows and a series of “Butt Strangler” incidents that has the show’s creator, Loren Bouchard, quite concerned. It’s becoming evident that the voice of Tina, Dan Mintz, might be up to no good and escalating beyond just a fervent love of butts. Are Tina’s desires breaking through into the real world in horrible and violent ways? Is Mintz slowly being overcome by his character in a real-life Norman Bates scenario?
Our only hope is that more live shows are planned, so that more content for this “movie” is released and we can finally get to the bottom of this mystery! Let’s discuss death via butt strangulation in the comments below!
