If you read this website regularly, you know that I love Penny Dreadful. It was the biggest surprise of my pop culture year last year and my anticipation for the season two premiere has been high, to say the least. One of the best moves Showtime made while rolling out season one of their latest genre series was making the pilot episode available for free online. I know from my own personal experience that after being unimpressed by the initial promotional materials for the show, it was watching the premiere online that made me consider giving the series a chance and now it’s without a doubt one of my favorite shows on TV.
Now, almost two weeks ahead of the May 3 season two premiere, you can watch the episode for free right now! Watch it I did and holy moly, the sophomore season is back with a huge bang. If this first episode is any indication of what is to come we are in for an epic, dark and twisted ride!
Season two of Penny Dreadful revolves around a new evil that is after Vanessa Ives. The group must unite to banish the dark forces that threaten to destroy them. We know that Madame Kali, who we met very briefly in season one, is back and serving as the “big bad” and she is dangerous!
Penny Dreadful starring Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton, Reeve Carney, Rory Kinnear, Harry Treadaway, Helen McCrory and Eva Green returns to Showtime on May 3.
