Watch the HAMILTON Cast Give a Brilliant Grammy Performance

If you thought it was hard to score Hamilton tickets before, just wait until you check their availability post-Grammys.

The hip-hop musical about the life of Alexander Hamilton has enthralled audiences and critics alike. It’s universally adored, an artistic achievement that comes once in a lifetime. As such, performances are sold out for pretty much the rest of time, and last night’s Grammy performance isn’t going to help you get a ticket anytime soon.

The awards ceremony took a break from filming at the Staples Center to stop by the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York City, the host site for the revered musical. There the Hamilton cast gave a special Grammy performance, launching into “Alexander Hamilton,” the show’s opening song.

For the first 90 seconds, characters rove about the stage, singing in preface to the arrival of Hamilton himself. Lin-Manuel Miranda—the brainchild of the entire phenomenon—plays our ten-dollar (bill) founding father, and when he steps into the spotlight, the crowd erupts in applause (you know a Broadway show is big when it turns an unknown man into a household face). The segment was tight and provocative, and an ideal catalyst for procuring even more ticket sales.

Hamilton went on to win the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album, inciting a performance from Miranda that, arguably, topped the first. The impresario rapped his acceptance speech, showcasing his biting flow and inimitable abilities as wordsmith:

Watch both and let us know in the comments how bad you’ve got Hamilton fever. It can’t be worse than ours!
