It’s a happier than usual Hump Day here at Movie Morsels, because it’s a shorter work week than usual! And no one wears a grin wider than the Joker, the principal subject of today’s lead story on Batman: The Killing Joke. Plus, we have the latest on Thor: Ragnarok, the trailer for Daniel Radcliffe‘s next film, and more!
Batman: The Killing Joke
This month sees the release of the film adaptation of perhaps the most controversial Batman story ever:Â The Killing Joke. It’s a tale so mired in controversy that its creator Alan Moore has essentially disowned it (and not for the reasons he usually disowns things). But since the film features the return of the quintessential Batman and Joker voice actorsâKevin Conroy and Mark Hamillâas well as the first R rating ever given to an animated Batman project, it will no doubt be required viewing for Batfans everywhere. DC Entertainment has released the first clip from The Killing Joke, and it’s featured in the latest installment of the company’s web series DC All Access..

By Odin’s Beard! Thor: Ragnarok has finally begun shooting, as revealed in a congratulatory message tweeted from Ant-Man director Peyton Reed to Ragnarok director Taika Waititi; who in turn has shared the first photo from the sequel’s set in Oxenford, Australia…

Imperium
If you weren’t yet aware of just how much Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe had matured since he first enrolled at Hogwarts, the trailer for his latest film will certainly open your eyes. Radcliffe plays an FBI agent who goes undercover to infiltrate a gang of white supremacists in Imperium, the title of which only sounds like a spell The Boy Who Lived would have once uttered…
The Nut Job 2
Jackie Chan isn’t the spry action star he used to be, but that’s not keeping the martial arts legend out of movies. No way! Chan (pictured above in 2013’s Police Story: Lockdown) is lending his voice to the animated critter sequel The Nut Job 2, joining Will Arnett, Katherine Heigl and Maya Rudolph. The Open Road film opens on May 19, 2017.
The Girl with All the Gifts
The British film adaptation of M.R. Carey’s bestselling dystopian zombie novel The Girl with All the Gifts has itself a new poster, featuring stars Sennia Nanua, Gemma Arterton, Glenn Close, and Paddy Considine. While it has not yet been picked up for US distribution, it arrives in the UK in September, and some form of US release is sure to follow. This country just loves it zombies too darn much not to give it some love.
