The October premiere of Star Wars Rebels is slowly but surely getting closer. We saw the first hour long episode at a special screening Comic-Con, and now the world can get a look at Star Wars’ newest ragtag band of heroes. The first seven minutes of the animated series debuted on Disney XD tonight, and we’ve got the video right here. Grab a snack, sit back, and give this clip your full attention because there’s nothing like experiencing new Star Wars for the first time.

It’s only a brief look, but it’s already apparent that Star Wars Rebels channels plenty of the original trilogy vibe so many of us love. The crew of Ghost – Hera, Kanan, Sabine, Zeb, and Chopper – and Ezra make a strong first step into the galaxy far, far away. They’re surviving in perilous times, so while there is obviously humor, it doesn’t mean the series is “Disneyified.”

The animation style is drastically different from what we saw in The Clone Wars, but different is okay. The faces and movements are still expressive and the backgrounds are nothing short of beautiful. I realize I’m gushing, but Star Wars Rebels stirred up strong fandom feelings I didn’t quite expect and this seven minutes is only a taste of what’s ahead.
