Plus, the first look at Tom Hiddleston in Thor: Ragnarok, news of another Chronicles of Narnia sequel, and much more!
Bad Santa 2
Billy Bob Thornton is back as the world’s worst department store Santa ever in Bad Santa 2. Joined once more by his pals Marcus and Thurman Merman, as well as, this time around, by Kathy Bates and Christina Hendricks, the alcoholic misanthrope returns to theaters on November 23. Mark Waters directs this sequel to Terry Zwigoff’s original 2003 hit. Here’s the NSFW red band trailer…
Thor: Ragnarok
After months of cavorting around the world with his new girlfriend Taylor Swift, Tom Hiddleston wants us all to know that he’s rested and ready to return to the role that made him famous back in Thor and The Avengers. The actor shared the following first look at himself as Loki on the set of Thor: Ragnarok film via Instagram. When we last left the Norse god of mischief he had stolen Odin’s throne and seized control of Asgard. From the look on Hiddles’ face, it appears Loki’s been enjoying his time in charge. But his brother, and the Hulk, will no doubt have a few words to say about that when the film opens on November 3, 2017.
Sully
Tom Hanks stars as Captain Chesley Burnett Sullenberger III, better know as “Sully” in Clint Eastwood’s film about the famed airline pilot who landed his plane in the Hudson River after its engines failed. The biopic, which opens September 9, has two new TV spots that should quickly bring the uninitiated up to speed…
Arrival
Amy Adams’ last first contact with an extra-terrestrial was in the lackluster Man of Steel. But things are likely to go a little bit better with Arrival, in which the acclaimed actress stars alongside Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker as a linguistics expert recruited to communicate with alien life. Sicario filmmaker Denis Villeneuve directs the November 11 release, the teaser trailer for which is now online…
The Silver Chair
Finally today… It’s been a long wait since 2010’s Voyage of the Dawn Treader (pictured above) for C.S. Lewis devotees, but the fourth film in the Chronicles of Narnia series is finally moving forward. Reportedly more of a reboot than a strict continuation, The Silver Chair will be produced by TriStar Pictures, The Mark Gordon Company, The C.S. Lewis Company, and Entertainment One. Life of Pi and Finding Neverland screenwriter David Magee has been working on a script.
