Watch Tested Create Iden Versio’s Helmet from STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT II

When asked by EA to create a helmet from Star Wars Battlefront II to give to a character’s mo-cap actress, the folks at Tested were well-equipped to complete the task!

While this particular build involves some rather specialized and large tools like lathes, mills, and vacuum-forming machines, there’s still a lot the casual cosplayer can adapt in terms of technique. As always, Frank and Norm are meticulously detailed in how they explain a build so you’re bound to pick up some pointers throughout the video.

First and foremost, working with something that’s already most of the way there like turning a standard TIE pilot helmet into Iden Versio’s version from Battlefront. And while most will lack the big machines, there are simple tips like how to apply details with the aid of toothpaste, using the form itself as a guide for contour, and the fantastic weathering techniques Tested are always known for.

What makes this build particularly special is how it was given to Janina Gavankar (The League, True Blood) at this month’s D23 Expo. Norm talks to her a bit about the game and she expresses her excitement about, someday, being able to cosplay as her Imperial character Iden Versio. It’s impossible not to smile at the sheer joy on her face as Norm unveils the helmet that she gets to go home with. And there’s also something especially great about seeing someone overjoyed trying to compose themselves wearing a TIE pilot helmet.
