Watch SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING’s Opening Sequence Right Now

It’s something of a minor miracle that Spider-Man found a way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In many ways, the tone of the current MCU was set 15 years ago by the very first Spider-Man movie. For at least four more movies, Tom Holland is going to be the Spider-Man of this generation, and fans will get to see his first solo adventure later this week when Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters. But the very last words that we expected to see at the beginning of that movie were “a film by Peter Parker.”

Sony Pictures has released the first four minutes of Spider-Man: Homecoming, which begins with Peter filming a very joyous ride with Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan, making his first MCU appearance since Iron Man 3. This is about as happy as we’ve ever seen Peter, although his new mentor, Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.), already seems to be a little bit annoyed by him. Regardless, Tony offers Peter some guidance as only he can.

Additionally, Sony has also released a new comic book style poster for Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is a lot more stylish than some of the other posters for the flick. It’s also a pretty stunning take on the Vulture, based on his appearance in the film.

Spider-Man Homecoming New Poster

Naturally, there’s going to be a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming that follows up on this adventure as well as the events of Avengers: Infinity War and its untitled sequel. Although Marvel and Sony haven’t publicly announced a deal for a third Spider-Man solo movie in the MCU, Holland recently let it slip that he is on board for that during a recent interview with Allocine.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will open this Friday, July 7.
