Watch Rashida Jones Bring Back the ’90s in “Flip & Rewind” Music Video

Rashida Jones comes from a family of surprises. If you didn’t know, she’s the daughter of record producer Quincy Jones and actress Peggy Lipton. As such, music is, somewhat literally, in her blood.

Several weeks ago, Jones appeared on a new single by Boss Selection (the alias of producer Sunny Levine) called “Flip and Rewind.” It’s a low-key, R&B jam reminiscent of old school Top 40. She shows off on the song but also shies away from going full-force drama, suggesting it’s more of a one-off endeavor for fun instead of a career change. The song’s new music video, which she co-directed with writing partner Will McCormack, adds to that fun.

In the video, Rashida Jones starts things off the way we always picture her doing so: owning everything like a total boss. After wrapping a film shoot, she hops in her trailer and strikes up a video call with ’90s rapper Jermaine Dupri. “I just can’t believe it’s not the ’90s anymore,” she says. “All I wanna do is go back.” Don’t we all? The difference is that she actually makes it happen. In a decade-spanning video that sees her capitalize on ’90s music (that R&B bassline!), ’90s clothing (those white scrunchies!), and ’90s moves (crusin’ in the car!), she sums up everything we miss while still dropping a modern flair. Bonus: the video comes complete a behind-the-scenes where we see the dancing crew, including Jones, practice their moves, occasionally making errors on the first go.

The downside? We don’t know if there’s another song (or video) on the way… yet.
