As Nerdoween season comes to a close and All Hallow’s Eve is upon us, there’s a good chance that you might find yourself headed to a Halloween party. Or, perhaps you’ve seen an elaborate celebration unfold in movies like Trick ‘R Treat or Hocus Pocus. There’s candy and costumes, bobbing for apples, and lots of pumpkins. But what if one such iconic Halloween party got a little, well, dangerous. And there you have the premise for Where Are You?, the new short from from director Chelsea Stardust which premiered on Eli Roth‘s Crypt TV just in time for Halloween.
Fair warning, spoilers to follow, so watch the film now and come back down here when you’re done…
For fans of the beloved special It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, Where Are You? provides a clever and dark twist on the childhood classic. In addition to getting the costumes and character designs perfectly, there are some other fun nods to the classic cartoon, including the two detectives–Schulz and Melendez–being named for Charles M. Schulz who created the Peanuts comic strip and Bill Melendez who brought the illustrations to life in numerous TV cartoon specials. Melendez also performed the voices for Snoopy and Woodstock. Wicked fun, if you ask us!
Where Are You? starring Ben Begley, Clarke Wolfe, Libby Ewing, and Tom Myers, written by Sean Stewart, and directed by Chelsea Stardust is streaming on Crypt TV now.
